Prop Comedy Story, The Early Stages

I'm working on a story about Prop Comedy for Las Vegas Weekly. Interviewed Carrot Top yesterday and going to chat with Gallagher today. Carrot Top was great, by the way. I got the sense that he really liked talking about comedy and about his act, which was refreshing. Odd: my two favorite jokes in the show weren't prop bits. Here's one of them: "My 96-year-old grandmother was here at the show last month. We bring her here twice a year. Okay, actually just once a year, but we tell her twice a year."

Are you going to use my bit
Are you going to use my bit from the olden days that I never got to perform?
Tell the audience "Ok, I'm going to do a little prop comedy for you guys now. Does anybody have a glass of water?" Accept someone's glass of water and drink it, then say "Ok, does anybody have any props?"
The only problem would be if and when you got incredibly popular because of this bit, you'd have to use it so often that you'd eventually get herpes.

I met John twice. First in a bookstore a couple blocks from my parents house in Michigan. This time it was at the Planet Hollywood Miracle Mile shops. About 4 or 5 months ago. I was with a date and we crossed paths with him and I said, "Hey John," and he said, "Hey," and neither of us stopped, and my date was left wondering whether we actually knew each other.
